MY STORY

I started my journey of design in High School when I became Media Leader. I would help work on the school newspapers and magazines, as well as do photography for sports matches and other events. I learned how to design a bit on Coral Draw with the supervision of my Media Teacher.

1.

I had a small introduction to other design work; I did a little bit of pro bono work for family friends by designing logos for their businesses and helping my dad design petroleum jelly tub packaging.

2.

High school inspired me to choose a creative degree, hence, BA in Media, Communication & Culture. After one introductory lecture presented by our lecturer - Ms. T. Rennie - in first year, I was convinced that I wanted to do design and create all the incredible things she had shown us.

3.

I have learned so much and only intend on learning more. I want to be able to further explore across the boundaries of design in the future. I want to discover new ways of seeing and designing things. I want to grow my creative mind. I am already starting to draw illustrations for my poetry book I would like to publish one day. I want to be able to use my design skills in the future as a Public Relations officer, it’s a valuable extra skill to have.

6.

Once we started using the programs, design became a bit more interesting… and a bit more challenging. However, through the frustrations and learning curves, I have been extremely proud of the designs that I have produced from second year until now.

5.

By the second year of my degree, I could choose design as a subject. It was nothing like I expected. I just wanted to dive right in to all the technical design and using the computer programs, but we had to start with the basics.
